Engineering Assurance, Built for Accountability

ERL—Engineering Rule Logic—is an engineering assurance system under development for people who design, build, review, commission, own, operate, and maintain buildings.

It is being developed to let authorized users ask questions in everyday language, perform engineering calculations, and evaluate applicable requirements using project and asset information—from drawings and BIM models to commissioning records, operating data, and maintenance history.

The aim is to make each result understandable and traceable to its supporting information and, where applicable, the rules and calculation methods used. When required information is missing or insufficient, ERL is designed to explain what is needed before reaching a conclusion.

ERL’s intended role is to support informed professional decisions throughout the building lifecycle, with people retaining responsibility and control.
